About Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe is a landlocked country located in Southern Africa. It is bordered on the West by Botswana; on the North by Zambia; on the east by Mozambique; and on the South by South Africa. The capital city of Zimbabwe is Harare. The country’s Constitution recognizes 16 official languages but the dominant ones are English, Shona and Ndebele. However, English is the official working language.

About Host City (Victoria Falls)

Victoria Falls is a resort city situated in Matabeleland North province of Zimbabwe. Famed for its most spectacular waterfall, the majestic Victoria Falls is one of the seven natural wonders of the world. The city is mainly surrounded by National Parks and Wildlife areas, where assortments of wild animals, including the Big Five, are found. Population: The population size of Zimbabwe as at 20th April 2022 was 15,178,957

Ethnic Make-up: African origin 99.6%, Mixed race and other races 0.29%, Caucasians 0.16%.

Currency: The local currency of Zimbabwe is the Zimbabwe dollar. Zimbabwe is a multi-currency nation with the USD and Rand predominant. Bureau de change are available for other currencies.

Climate: Zimbabwe, lying north of the Tropic of Capricorn, is completely within the tropics but enjoys subtropical conditions because of its high average elevation. The Average temperature in Zimbabwe in the month of October ranges from 27- 37°C

Religions: Christians 85.3%, No religion 8.3%, African Traditional religion 5% while the remainder 1.4% belong to Islam, Judaism and Hinduism.


Government: Republic


Languages: English is the country’s lingua franca, used in government and business and as the main medium of instruction in schools.


Zimbabwe has 16 official languages, namely Chewa, Chibarwe, English, Kalanga, Koisan, Nambya, Ndau, Ndebele, Shangani, Shona, sign language, Sotho, Tonga, Tswana, Venda, Xhosa.

The country’s main languages are Shona, spoken by about 80.9% of the population, and Ndebele, spoken by roughly 11.5%.
